I have just been crying over a folder I picked up by chance here at The Sitting Room ascribed to Melanie Kaye. It was empty…
And as you can tell from the name, it was from a long time ago. Melanie worked as my t.a. at UC Berkeley, lucky me and lucky students, too. I remember meeting her parents (who probably wanted to make sure I would be a good influence) — they were so sweet and parental. My other memories are of good conversations and good giggles. When Melanie laughed, her face crinkled up in such a special way.
By the way, I loved what the obit in the New York Times caught of her and the quotes from Leslie were beautiful. We have kept it here at the Sitting Room, of course.
